Outside the Window: What’s the weather outside your window doing right now? If that’s not inspiring, what’s the weather like somewhere you wish you could be?
Winter in Florida is no winter at all. The legends tell is that it snowed once in Fort Lauderdale in the 70s. It didn't stick. Yesterday, we had record high temperatures for this time of the year. Cloudless skies will give way to cotton balls growing into grey blankets. This is Florida. The weather changes swiftly and, sometimes, it gets cold. Mostly, it's warm. Today is the kind of day people might turn off their air conditioners and then open the windows.
Outside my window, it is quite save the traffic coursing by. I have lived on this road for nine years and listened to the cars. Today, there are no rustling leaves. There is no rain pelting the ground. There aren't even birds chirping right now. Instead, the only noise is that constructed by people. The stars are winking into view and the light of day is fading.
Elsewhere in the country, people are literally dying because of the weather. The news reported that nine have died from a winter storm. I never shall worry about that here. Instead, I worry about lightning strikes, hurricanes, and tornadoes (in that order).
